5 Things to do in Bangkok

Overview:

We spent 5 days in Bangkok with two expat friends of ours who have been living in the Thai capital for many years. Once again, we didn’t have a guidebook, but their tips made our short stay easy and memorable. Sharing is caring, so here you go:

1. Hop on a long-tail boat departing from Tha Sathorn (under Saphan Taksin BTS station) and enjoy a ride along Bangkok’s khlongs (canals). Don’t be surprised if you find a monitory lizard sunbathing on one of the decks.

2. Get lost in the smelly and busy streets of Chinatown. The scenes you can witness there are almost as lively and random as the ones you may have already had the chance to experience in Naples.

3. Shop and eat at Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the biggest markets in Asia. You can find everything there: furniture, animals, clothings, souvenirs, food etc. The app and/or map will certainly prevent you from getting lost.

4. Take a bike tour with Follow Me. Their guides will have you ride your two-wheelers through some of Bangkok’s narrow streets, hard to stumble upon otherwise.

5. Discover Bangkok’s nightlife. Enjoy a meal in an eccentric scenario at Tuba. For dessert, go Gin tasting in the hidden and cosy rooms of Iron Balls.
